Improving strategic investment through behavioral analysis and skill-building workshops

Overview
The Open Society Foundations (OSF) aim to build vibrant and tolerant societies, led by open, accountable and participatory governments.
In 2017, OSF received an endowment of $18 billion from George Soros. Following this, the OSF Strategy Unit (SU) wished to transform the relationship between strategy and implementation, to ensure that these funds would be deployed in a way that maximized impact and minimized the risk of negative consequences.
The Challenge
The Decision Lab was approached by the SU to identify the skills and capabilities for developing impactful strategies, explore the common patterns and approaches that have been exhibited in strategy at OSF to date, and to develop skill-building resources to tighten the relationship between strategy and action at OSF.
